Fun with art dough

Yesterday, the K-1 Stars and I mixed flour, salt, and water to make dough that we could use for charms, ornaments, or even animal figurines. It was messy! Students, however, had a lot of fun, especially mixing, kneading, and rolling the dough.

Tuesday at BASCP

Fancy paper snowflakes, origami, fashion club, and legos were some of yesterday’s activities.

Family Fun Night a Success

Children, staff members, and parents enjoyed Friday night’s Welcome to the Willy Wonka Factory Family Fun Night

After lucky golden ticket winners collected their prizes in the Factory Headquarters, families went to different parts of the factory to participate in several fun activities. In the gym, the Oompaloompas (children) dominated the Slugworths (parents) in a spirited game of dodgeball. Downstairs, families were very creative as they designed marble magnets, paper dolls, and candy boats & houses.

It was great to see the BASCP community come together for such a fun evening.

K-1 Stars Jewelry

The K-1 Stars and I have spent the last month working on creating various, fun jewelry pieces using different materials. We have made clip on earrings and brooches using fuse beads, rings using floral gems, and charms using bottle caps and shrinky dink sheets.

Ozone Pickles

On Monday, students in the Ozone prepared Cold Pack Pickles. Now they just need to wait four weeks before tasting them. Here’s the recipe if you’d like to try to make the pickles at home:

  • 8 Pickling Cucumbers
  • Pickling Brine
  •                 ½ cup vinegar
  •                 ½ cup water
  •                 ½ cup recycled pickling brine
  •                 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 bunch dill
  • 1 sanitized jar

Stuff jar with cucumbers, garlic, and dill. Add pickling brine, filling jar so that cucumbers are submerged, but that the brine is not filled to the brim. Store in the refrigerator for a minimum of four weeks.
